There is never any shortage of Springers looking for new homes. Young, middle-aged, elderly, all are looking for that special someone who will love and care for them.

Young Springers are usually re-homed relatively quickly, but please spare a thought for those Golden Oldies who also deserve recognition for the love and companionship they still have to give. Caring for an elderly dog can be as equally rewarding as caring for a younger dog and not everyone wants a bouncy, rumbustious whirlwind in their lives. Slow and sedate also has its compensations.

Here are just some of the dogs who need special attention and are seeking kind and loving families.

ollie.jpg - 9838 Bytes OLLIE- Hi, I am Liver and White and about 2 years old, BUT in that time I have had four sets of owners, so as you can guess I am rather confused. I am a bit nervous and I have to take time to get to know people before I am willing to trust them. I am very lively and love to run. Sometimes, when off the lead, I don't seam to hear when I am called!!! When on the lead I am quite good, for a Springer, I don't pull hard at all. I am looking for someone, probably without children, who will give me lots of understanding and a stable environment in which I can gain in self confidence.
LUCY – is 11 years old, liver and white, spayed and vaccinated. She is house trained and good both on and off the lead but a little timid with other dogs. She is not used to cats but is very good with children. Her owner is 74 years old and unwell so is unable to manage Lucy whom she describes as very lively.
FLASH – is a 7 year old, Liver and White, neutered male of the working type. He has lived outdoors since he was a puppy. The family have moved and there is now nowhere for him to live. He pulls a bit on the lead but is good when let off and comes back in his own good time. He chases other dogs but is not aggressive. He has no experience of cats.
BRAMBLE- will be 5 years old in December this year. He is a Black and White, neutered male of the show type. He is used to children. At the moment, Bramble is living with a cat and is fine with her and her litter of kittens. He is house trained and is good when left alone in the house, He has had a cocker spaniel for company for the last 8 months. Bramble pulls a bit on the lead to begin with but soon settles and comes back to call when let off the lead. He travels well in the car. Bramble is looking for a home where he will have lots of company, food and exercise. He has lived by the beach and loves to run on the sand. Bramble is a big strong but well trained dog who ideally needs a family who are used to Springer Spaniels.
COPPER- is a fit 13 year old Liver and White Lady, who has not been spayed. She is sometimes moody at the time of her season (October and May). She has always had the company of another dog, who has sadly died, and Copper is obviously missing her. She sleeps in her bed in the kitchen and is house trained. She is good on the lead and, off-lead, comes back when called, although if she is busy she may take a while. She is good in the car and loves people and children but has had little to do with cats. She is nosy and has not been around livestock. She is fine left in the house when her owner goes out. Her vaccinations are up to date.
JAMAICA- is nine year old, liver and white, small working type Springer, who is rather shy. She is wary ofother dogs and would be happiest as the only dog in the family. After the family break-up the husband, with whom Jamaica was left, has now gone abroad, so she now finds herself abandoned. Apart from the last few months she has lived in the house and was house trained, but she will need a little time to get used to it again after her stay in kennels. Jamaica needs an experienced family who have the time to give her the reassurance she needs to settle once more into family life.
PATCH, HARRY and BONNIE- Patch is 5 years old, Liver and White and neutered. Harry is 3 years old and Liver and White. Bonnie is 4 years old Liver and White and spayed. This trio, who live in a pen, are all nervous, not socialised, not house trained, not lead trained, never seen traffic and have never been outside home. They are very boisterous. The owner no longer has time for them. The above three are from the same family, but can be split, to the right homes.
TIMMY- is a 6 year old Liver and White dog. His current owners are both out at work so he is left out in the kennel during the day. He comes in when they get home andat weekends. He is good with other dogs, but can be dominant, so is not suitable to be homed with children. Timmy needs a very understanding home.
BEN & TOM- litter brothers (both 12) who are currently in kennels. A marriage break up has left these two wonderful boys without a home. They are totally bonded so cannot be separated. They have been used to living out but could do with some comfort and affection in their golden years. This pair would be ideal for someone who likes the company of dogs but is perhaps no longer as active as they once were. Would you consider sharing your life with these marvellous golden oldies?
SABRE- 18 month old entire male. Sabre is looking for a special home with people who understand his ongoing medical condition. He needs to be fed a special diet to help control his pancreas problem. Sabre came to us as a stray so we cannot place him in a situation with young children. He doesn't like cats. Are you the one to give this little chap the love he deserves?
BRUNO & KIM- are 6 years old. Kim is female and spayed Bruno is male and entire. They are both over weight their coates are in poor condition they need grooming. Their family were unable to keep them. Can YOU help?
MACK- is a 6 year old neutered male and is Black and White. He is working type and described as active, scrawny and small. Mack is good with older children but has been upset by the arrival of the new baby. He is fine with livestock but will chase cats. He travels well and would live in the car if allowed. His owner runs and takes Mack with him so he is used to an active life style. On the lead he pulls a bit but is very good off lead. He is a bit nervous of dominant dogs and will hang back if he meets another dog when out. The family have another dog and he is used to living with company. The family are very reluctantly parting with him.
JESS- is a 4 year old Black & White, show type bitch who has not been spayed. She was bought 3 months ago from a farm/livery yard. She was living outside and had a litter of pups which were advertised with her. She is a very active dog. She lives with another springer and a cocker but the owner says she does not socialise with them, both of whom have been there for 4 years. Jess is good with children and cats and fine with livestock. She is house trained and OK if left alone in the house (upto 3 hours ish). She sleeps either upstairs on owners bed or down stairs in her own bed as she chooses. She pulls a bit on the lead fine off the lead comes back when called.
